Stress can cause anyone to feel down in the dumps. Some signs of stress include changes in daily habits, trouble sleeping, physical or emotional pain, disbelief, and increased use of alcohol or other substances. Feeling stress is normal and reflects a tricky situation in one’s life. Some healthy ways to cope include avoiding alcohol and substance use, exercising, and sleeping more than 7 hours per night. Connecting with community or religious organizations can be a way to talk with others and relax. Finally, continuing with regular healthcare is important as stress can make other problems with one’s body worse. Stress is something that everyone deals with from time to time no matter their situation. Therefore, it is crucial to have healthy mechanisms in place to make it better.
